Dear CSA Shareholders
I am hoping that this update finds you safe and well during this time of a virus that just won't go away! Again our goal is to provide you with a safe experience in picking up your weekly share. Please bear with us and feel free to let us know if there is somewhere we can do better.
I would like to extend a thank you to all of you who contributed to the Diane Miller Gift of Hope Fund. It means so much to our family to continue my wife's hopes and wishes to help cancer patients.
During this hottest July (or any month) on record it has required a lot more effort than usual to grow produce of any kind. We often pumped water day and night!
A thought that I had was, I am not a gambler... so why do I farm? Why do I continue to plant sweet corn when it is so hot and dry? The first answer I came up with is that I am just not too smart. Surely there is an easier way to make a living!
The more I thought about it the more I realized how much I love what I do. I love putting a seed in the ground and witnessing the miracle that takes place. The anticipation of harvesting a good crop is exciting. I like producing a product that so many can enjoy and draw nutrition from. It also has to do with faith. Believing that there is a greater being looking out for us and controlling the things that I cannot. Lastly, I like the idea of being the fourth generation to till the same soil as those that came before me and seeing the fifth generation pick up the torch.
So I guess I am a gambler. I have lots of reasons why.
Thank you for trusting Miller Plant Farm to grow your food!
From our farm to your family,
We list the types of items you will likely receive each week. Due to frequent and last minute changes in harvest, quantities distributed are to be determined on pick up day. Full Share typically receives larger portions of given items than small share. Actual share items are subject to change depending upon availability, if necessary.
